The task
A 2008 jQuery application, 84 files, no build step, no tests.
The requirement that made this hard: observable behaviour must be identical, including the six known bugs. Users have built workflows around them.
This one fell. The winning attempt spent most of its effort building a behavioural test harness against the original before writing any React, which is what nobody else did.
